Literature Text

My heart ached with a throbbing pain
One that could leave me bruised
I didn't think there could be so much to gain
Or so much I could lose.

Why didn't you say anything?
Could you not see it in my eyes?
The pure lust and desire for your loving
And for our pinkies to be tied.

The day I had decided to spill
(With a tear resting on my cheek),
"'Twas her birthday" churned the rumour mill
And with that my heart became meek.

It froze, I simply couldn't take it
Like a seeping wound, like a scar
You've picked me apart bit-by-bit
And have now left a bloody mar'

Now I lay back, turn on the TV
And burst into masses of tears
She knew, so why would she do this to me?
My "loving" friend for years.
So basically this was a poem for English class.

We were supposed to write about something we regret and the only thing I could think of was never asking out my crush of 489743 years.

Well, y'know what I mean.

So here it is, my Elegy to Regret.
